Blogs are funny, from a certain perspective.
They’re designed to promote the author. No problem there, right? I mean, after all, isn’t that what the world is about? Getting ahead. Achieving success. Rising above the crowd. Promoting yourself.
Well, yes, that is what the world is about…but I’m not playing by worldly rules, so, to me, traditional blogs are a bit funny.
I’m playing by what I call, “Kingdom rules.” These rules, are, for the most part, in complete contrast to worldly rules.
As a Christian, I’m writing to promote THE Author, not this author. I’m writing to promote the One in whom I place my faith: Jesus Christ.
And, for that reason, I have a difficult time writing about me. If the focus is to be upon Him, then I need to keep it on Him.
This blog is about God. It’s about God working through this guy, Bill Westfall.
This guy has been learning what it means to be a “Christian” (Christ follower) for a long time now. I’m still in training, and I screw it up often. But I keep trying to get it right.
This guy has been on this quest for decades now, and the quest has taken me to places like Oregon, Tennessee, Kenya, Idaho…and lots of other places in between.
This guy currently works as a campus minister at Boise State University. It’s a fun gig.
This guy has a beautiful family, a wife, a son, and two daughters.
This guy is excited about the way God is working in me, and through me, and this guy can’t wait to share these things with you. But this guy prefers to stand off to the side, so you can see the One who is greater.
May you see past this guy. May you see Him, and may you see the ones He is pursuing through this guy.
